Former Texas Longhorns freshman guard Arterio Morris has announced that he has transferred to the Kansas Jayhawks for next season. The former five-star recruit might have thought he would be heading to the 2023 NBA Draft after this past college basketball season, but instead, he is headed to a new program. Morris never seemed to crack the main rotation of a deep and talented Texas roster as a freshman. With the Longhorns roster keeping most of their talent and adding more this offseason it makes sense that he would enter the transfer portal.

This past season in just 11.8 minutes per game as a freshman with the Texas Longhorns, Arterio Morris averaged 4.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 41.1 percent and a three-point percentage of 33.3 percent. While he did showcase plenty of talent, Morris just didn’t seem to be able to crack the experienced rotation as a freshman. The Kansas Jayhawks had a few players leave the program this offseason and head to the 2023 NBA Draft. This means that they do have some room in their rotation for the 2023-24 college basketball season.
