Arnold Schwarzenegger gave fans an update this week on his upcoming film Triplets while speaking at a SXSW panel. As Deadline reported, Schwarzenegger confirmed that the script is completed and production will begin later this year. Eddie Murphy is attached to star alongside Schwarzenegger and Danny De Vito as yet another lost brother.
The film is a direct sequel to the 1988 film Twins, starring Schwarzenegger and Danny De Vito as long-lost twin brothers. Not much is known about the plot yet but with the revelation of Murphy’s third brother, hijinks will no doubt ensue.
Production has moved slowly since the original announcement in 2012, likely due to the schedule of the stars. De Vito currently stars as Frank Reynolds in the popular FX show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Schwarzenegger has kept busy as well with the Expendables franchise and a Terminator sequel. Not much has been heard about the film since a hiatus on production was announced in 2015. However, the production gained steam last year when Schwarzenegger confirmed that filming would begin after the next Terminator.
With the script written and the wave of 80s and 90s movies and tv shows being brought back to life, its safe to expect production to begin later this year or early 2019.
