Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has tested positive for COVID-19 and reportedly “experiencing symptoms” as she attempts to recover.
“Representative Ocasio-Cortez has received a positive test result for COVID-19. She is experiencing symptoms and recovering at home. The Congresswoman received her booster shot this Fall, and encourages everyone to get their booster and follow all CDC guidance,” a statement from the congresswoman’s office reads.
Ocasio-Cortez is one of four members of U.S. representatives to test positive for the virus over the weekend. Reps. Jim Cooper, Sean Casten, Young Kim and Michael McCaul tested positive over the weekend.
“I just tested positive for COVID-19 and will be proxy voting as I monitor my symptoms. I am feeling fine and am grateful to be vaccinated and boosted. My team and I are continuing to work around the clock to serve [my district] and I look forward to returning to work in person soon,” Kim told her constituents.
On Monday, Reps. John Katko, Ben Cline, Rick Crawford and Nancy Mace also tested positive for the virus.
Congress is just one area of the country dealing with COVID-19. Within the last 24 hours, the U.S. has recorded 1.3 million new COVID-19 cases and hospitalized nearly 150,000 people due to COVID-19 issues.
