The first major declaration for the 2020 NBA Draft has been announced and it may be the best player in the class. Georgia star freshman Anthony Edwards has officially declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. Many projected mock drafts have the shooting guard projected as the first overall pick. Edwards likely will not fall below the third overall pick regardless of the Lottery teams there.

Anthony Edwards was always going to be a “one and done” college basketball player. It could be argued that the shooting guard was ready for the NBA straight out of high school. Georgia was happy to have him for the lone year, and he was a walking highlight reel while he was there. He averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. The guard also shot 40.2 percent from the field. Anthony Edwards is a force to be reckoned with on any level.

Edwards is a perfect NBA shooting guard listed at 6’5″ and 225 pounds. Head Coach Tom Crean used the shooting guard as a battering ram on the Georgia offense. His outside shot is somewhat inconsistent, but he is a dangerous slashing to the rim. It is possible that we see the guard in the NBA Dunk Contest one day. He will provide an immediate impact to the team that drafts him.

Georgia’s “one and done” guard is explosive and exciting to watch and that always translates to the NBA. He also has the capability to improve on his limited weaknesses. The NBA team that lands him could have a future face of their franchise.
