Deshaun Watson is one of the more touted quarterback prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft. For any team looking for a franchise quarterback, poise and confidence are often times huge characteristics any player needs for the position. An anonymous scout recently linked Watson to Dak Prescott and Jameis Winston.
“Watson’s confidence and competitiveness reminds me a lot of Jameis Winston and Dak Prescott. He loves the bright lights and a big stage. He plays better when things are on the line. At the end of the day, that stuff matters,” the director told NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks. “… We all want to win and the franchise quarterback needs to believe that he can get it done. Watson believes he is that guy.”
The questions on Watson heading into the draft process are more based on accuracy and transition into a pro style offense. I compared Prescott to a better version of Tim Tebow last year (though that comparison isn’t totally off right?). You have to like Watson’s chances to replicate Prescott’s success. He did go 28-2 his last two years in college capping off an excellent career by beating a dynasty Alabama team.
