Earlier this year, we got our first look at Alex Garland’s ‘Annihilation’. While the first trailer was certainly visually stunning, it didn’t offer up much on what the plot of the film would be. Now, that was totally fine since it was a teaser trailer, but people had recently begun to speculate about the film since we hadn’t seen any more new footage for a film that is slated to debut in less than two months.
Today, that all changed. The new trailer for ‘Annihilation’ looks fantastic. It definitely gives off some Alien vibes but it doesn’t seem to be a carbon copy by any means. Given that the film has a trilogy’s worth of source material to go off of, it’s nice to see the team behind the film try and craft their own unique universe. The cast looks stellar, and the designs both physical and soundwise are at times truly awe-inspiring.
We’ve attached the full synopsis and trailer for ‘Annihilation’ below.
‘The book describes a team of four women (a biologist, an anthropologist, a psychologist, and a surveyor) who set out into an area known as Area X. The area is abandoned and cut off from the rest of civilization. They are the 12th expedition. The other expeditions have been fraught with disappearances, suicides, aggressive cancers, and mental trauma.’ Via Farrar, Straus and Giroux
