Julie Lemus has accused her ex-husband, Andy Ruiz, of rape and exhibiting abusive behavior throughout the course of their relationship. Lemus has reportedly been granted a temporary restraining order against the former heavyweight champion. However, Ruiz has adamantly denied the accusations levied against him.
Julie Lemus and Andy Ruiz were reportedly together from 2015 through 2022. During that time period, the former couple welcomed two children into the world. Within that seven-year period, the 26-year-old woman alleges that Ruiz abused several substances, including alcohol and illicit drugs. Ultimately, she says that she began to “fear for [her] life and safety and the lives and safety of [her] children.”
According to a report from TMZ, Lemus detailed multiple instances in which Ruiz became physically abusive toward her. Most notably, she accused the boxer of “jokingly” punching her several times and leaving her with bruises.
“He began grabbing me by my upper arms and physically yanking me in order to move me wherever he wanted me to go,” she said.
In addition to accusations of physical abuse, Lemus claims that the former heavyweight champion sexually assaulted her at least six times. Furthermore, Lemus says that Ruiz purchased several firearms and would ask to show them off to her. At one point, she says that the boxer pointed an “AK-47” at her head as she asked him to stop.
“[He] proceeded to point an AK-47 at my face,” Lemus claims.
“[He[ told me to ‘shut the f*ck up,’ and then noted that the guns did not have bullets in them and mocked me by telling me I was being dramatic.”
Ruiz has denied the accusations put forth by his ex-wife. In fact, the heavyweight has argued that she exhibited abusive behavior toward him. In February 2020, he says that Lemus stabbed him with a knife. Two months later, Ruiz claims that Lemus entered his hotel room “with a loaded gun in her hand, and screamed, ‘everybody get the f*ck out of here.'” From there, Ruiz says that she hit one of his friends in the head with the gun and proceeded to break property.
Not once did I ever engage in any physical response to Julia’s assault,” Ruiz stated.
Ruiz has also filed a police report claiming that his wife stole upwards of $250,000 in jewelry from him.
