Andre 3000 has joined forces with IMAX to bring his latest musical project to the biggest screens possible. On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, twenty-two IMAX theaters will screen André 3000: New Blue Sun IMAX Live Experience.
“Join André 3000 in celebrating the release of his genre-leaping debut solo album, New Blue Sun with an album listening cinematic experience and live Q&A. Directed by Terence Nance, witness André’s fusion of improv creativity and musical exploration in vivid detail and unparalleled sound quality through the IMAX Live Experience, blending captivating visuals and instrumentation,” a statement from IMAX reads.
Released in November, A New Blue Sun serves as the Atlanta native’s first solo LP, but sonically distinct from any of his previous work with Big Boi or any of his frequent collaborators. The nearly 88-minute musical release entirely features Andre 3000 playing the flute. Described as “beautiful” and “demanding” by critics, the LP was well received by listeners and made history on the Billboard Hot 100. The project’s first track — “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time” — as the longest song to ever appear on the chart.
