One of the biggest fights to hit Madison Square Garden in years has just gotten bigger. AMC has announced that it will screen the undisputed lightweight title fight featuring Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor at select theaters around the country.
“Every so often the greatest boxers of a generation step into the ring to settle their differences, and time seemingly stands still as the world stops to take notice. The boxing mecca MSG will host a true super fight between undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor and seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano After 12 successful title defences, Taylor’s status as the lightweight GOAT will be cemented by winning a super fight,” a statement from AMC reads.
“But in ‘The Real Deal’ Amanda Serrano, she faces a 7-division world champion. With 30 KO’s in 42 victories, Serrano has been carving a formidable legacy in her own right. However, only one can be the greatest. The biggest fight in women’s boxing history goes down LIVE in movie theaters Saturday, April 30.”
Championship fights are routinely screened in movie theaters across the country. The upcoming light heavyweight title fight featuring Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol can be seen in theaters. Additionally, Tyson Fury’s upcoming heavyweight title defense will be featured in select Cinemark theaters. However, it is rare to see a women’s title fight broadcast in theaters across the U.S. Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano has been billed as the biggest fight in the history of women’s boxing and thus far, it’s living up to the hype.
