AMC Theaters has announced that it will begin a phased reopening process on August 20, 2020. On August 20, AMC will open 100 locations for the first time since March. Better yet, tickets will be a whopping 15 cents per person for that day.
On August 21, the movie theater chain will screen older movies such as Inception, Back To The Future and Grease for $5 per ticket. In addition, new movies opening in between August 20 and September 3 like Unhinged and The New Mutants will be available at $10 per ticket. AMC Stubs A-List will also be giving subscribers a $10 credit to use through the end of October.
Ultimately, AMC is planning to open 400 of its 600 locations by the time John David Washington’s Tenet is released in theaters. This layered opening will include major markets such as Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Dallas and St. Louis. However, they do not plan to reopen in cities such as New York and Los Angeles just yet.
