To many basketball players in this generation, Allen Iverson is an idol. The former 76ers guard is an icon in every sense of the word, from an athletic and cultural standpoint.
Iverson was inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer, but his story with basketball is not completely finished.
While the current iteration of the Philadelphia 76ers is a far cry from AI’s heyday, the guard is excited about the team’s future. He spoke with the team on Thursday, after practice:
Brown on Iverson's message to team: "He reminded everybody the city appreciates effort. The city demands effort."

Allen Iverson: "A fan is a fan. You’re supposed to be diehard. You’re supposed to believe. That’s what Philly fans are."

The Sixers will be hoping that Ben Simmons (who is currently out with injury) turns into the type of playmaker that Allen Iverson was. So far, they have had very little success in winning games. But Joel Embiid has looked fantastic in finally playing in the NBA and there is promising, young talent throughout the team.
