The Boston Celtics have opened their 2017-18 campaign in style, reeling off nine straight wins after dropping their first two. Point guard Kyrie Irving has more than held his own as Boston’s top dog and the sizzling play of center Al Horford has complimented him well up to this point.
However, the C’s may be without their best big man for some time as Horford has entered the NBA’s concussion protocol after their narrow victory over the Atlanta Hawks according to their official Twitter account:
Al Horford will miss tonight’s game after entering the NBA’s concussion protocol. Horford’s first symptoms linking him to a possible concussion occurred this morning. Initially struck in the head on a foul called in the second quarter of Boston’s Nov. 6 contest at Atlanta.

Horford will miss at least tonight’s contest against the Los Angeles Lakers and could be sidelined for longer. Horford also suffered a concussion around this same time just last year which kept him out of action for multiple games.
With everything operating smoothly for Horford and the Celtics, this bump in the road could slow down the early momentum they’ve picked up though they have players more than capable of picking up the slack.
With Horford potentially missing some time, expect Aron Baynes and Daniel Theis to get more playing time in the Boston frontcourt along with an expanded role for forward Marcus Morris who just returned from an injury of his own.
