There was a lot going on at today’s showcase for A&E Networks. Most notably, the collection of networks rolled out a new Sylvester Stallone series and a scripted series about Salt-N-Pepa. In addition, A&E Networks announced that they would be developing 150 new movies in the coming months. Among the new movies was an intriguing project being led by three legends of rap and R&B, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah.
Queen Latifah has already been given the green light for her Salt-N-Pepa miniseries, but she’s not done. Alongside Mary J. Blige and Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah will be producing a film about the Clark Sisters. The film about the iconic gospel group will highlight their beginnings, struggles within the music business and their ultimate success. The film will also feature recordings of their hits like “You Brought The Sunshine”. The entire cast has yet to be announced, but The Wrap has reported that SAG nominee Aunjanue Ellis will be in the film.
The Clark Sisters television film has yet to receive a working title or a release date. More details about this film and the other films from A&E Networks will be reported as they become available.
