Adidas will reportedly look into allegations that Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, acted inappropriately with members of its staff.
“It is currently not clear whether the accusations made in an anonymous letter are true. However, we take these allegations very seriously and have taken the decision to launch an independent investigation of the matter immediately to address the allegations,” the apparel company shared in a statement.
On November 22, 2022, Rolling Stone published a report claiming that Ye used porn, bullying and “mind games” to control members of the company’s staff. The publication also claims to have obtained a letter from former high-ranking employees of Yeezy that alleges Ye created a “toxic and chaotic environment.”
“This type of response from a brand partner is one that Adidas employees should never be subjected to, nor should Adidas leadership ever tolerate,” the letter reads.
Ye’s relationship with the brand dates back nearly a decade. In 2013, Ye moved to the company shortly after ending his relationship with Nike. Three years later, his partnership with the brand expanded and the company called him “the most significant” non-athlete partner. However, their relationship ended back in October after he made a series of anti-Semitic remarks on public platforms.
“I think Adidas felt like cause everyone was ganging up on me that they had the right to just take my designs,” West said.
West nor Adidas have offered a public comment on the matter.
