Adele can officially say ‘Hello‘ to another record attached to her music. A little over a week ago, Adele officially took the world by storm and made her return to music after a 4 year break in which the singer went on to give birth to her first child, and more recently, record her upcoming studio album, 25. Met with rave reviews among critics and fans, Adele’s new single quickly met the peak of the iTunes singles charts and since its debut, the record still currently sits at the No. 1 spot. Being the top contender on iTunes isn’t the only No. 1 Adele will have this week as the singer has topped this week’s Hot 100 chart thanks to the single’s record breaking 1.11 million digital sales.
Adele’s “Hello” blasts onto the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Nov. 14) at No. 1, setting a record for the most U.S. downloads sold in a week: 1.11 million, according to Nielsen Music. It’s the first song ever to sell at least 1 million downloads in a week.
Previously being held by Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’ smash single, which sold over 630,000 copies in one week, Adele now holds the singles digital sales record by any artist across all platforms. Shattering records across the board since it’s debut, it’s almost 100% certain that Adele is an unstoppable force in the music industry. With a little over two weeks until the launch of her third studio albums, it isn’t a wild idea to think that the LP will debut with even larger numbers than ‘Hello.’ Until then, congratulations to Adele for her brand new No. 1 single.
