George Karl raised some eyebrows recently as excerpts from his new book were shown to the public. The bulk of the conversation was centered around his insensitive comments towards former Nuggets players Carmelo Anthony, Kenyon Martin, and J.R. Smith.
However, there was another interesting revelation. Karl claimed that the NBA has a problem with players using performance enhancing drugs.
On Thursday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver addressed those comments at the Global Games in London.
Silver:
“For us, doesn’t matter what the source is. If somebody is, especially if it’s a Hall of Fame caliber coach, registering those sort of allegations against the league, we will take them seriously. But, standing here today, I have absolutely no reason to believe that there’s any truth to those allegations.”
Silver basically has to say that the NBA is taking allegations seriously. The use of PED’s is still a sore subject for most sports fans and media members even as more and more people warm up to the idea that they can be beneficial for athletes.
But it doesn’t seem like Adam Silver is very concerned about Karl’s comments. And considering the other comments Karl has been in the news for, no one can blame the commissioner.
