The New York Yankees have reportedly agreed to terms of a 3-year, $27 million contract with free agent reliever Adam Ottavino. The Yankees add Ottavino which helps them further bolster down their back end of the bullpen. Aroldis Chapman, Dellin Betances, Zach Britton, and now Adam Ottavino make up the back end of the Yankees bullpen. The deal was reported by Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports and Jon Heyman of FanCred reported the deal and financials.

In his time with the Rockies in 2018, Ottavino appeared in 75 games with 77.2 innings pitched. He featured a 2.43 ERA, with a 0.99 WHIP, while striking out 112 batters. Ottavino had a bounce-back year in 2018 after he spent the offseason in a vacant storefront, fixing the way he pitches. Over the course of the offseason, he used all the analytics that Driveline Baseball uses to rebrand himself and the results showed in 2018.

Rob Friedman, the Pitching Ninja on Social Media, posted this tweet not too long ago showcasing Ottavino’s filthy pitches from 2018. The Yankees who lost David Robertson to the Phillies just replaced him with a player who has rebuilt himself and now features one of the best sliders out of any bullpen in the league.
