There are few players in the history of American professional football that have accomplished more than Aaron Donald. At just 30 years old, Donald has amassed seven All-Pro selections, earned eight Pro Bowl placements and won three Defensive Player of the Year Awards. Not to mention, he was a member of the NFL’s all-decade team during the 2010s. At the moment, the only thing that has escaped him is a Super Bowl ring.
Tonight Aaron Donald will compete in the Super Bowl for the second time in his career. Back in 2018, he helped hold Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to 13 points, but the Rams offense came up with only three points. This time around, the Rams come in to SoFi Stadium as the favorite. If Donald and company can win the Rams first Super Bowl title in more than two decades, the legendary pass rusher may retire.
“He’s big on legacy,” Super Bowl Champion Rodney Harrison said, according to NBC Sports.
“He doesn’t want to be known as a defender that accomplished so many individual things and never won a Super Bowl. But he also told me this: If he wins a Super Bowl, there’s a strong possibility he could walk away from the game and retire.”
First things first, the Rams must win Super Bowl LVI at their home stadium in Inglewood, California tonight.
Rodney Harrison just said on NBC's pregame show that if the #Rams win the #SuperBowl, there's a "strong possibility that (Aaron Donald) will walk away from the game and retire."
