A Few Things We Took Away From Kanye West’s ‘Breakfast Club’ Interview

  • February 20, 2015

The magisterial Kanye West stopped by The Breakfast Club today (Feb. 20) and discussed Beck, Amber Rose, Yeezy Boost, Kylie and Tyga, and much more. However, we’re going to share what we took away from the most-talked-about-interview of the week. Kudos to Power 105 for positioning themselves to land interviews with the Kanye and Amber Rose — who happen to be in the middle of a social media war of words.

Yeezy Boost are coming in black.

“Yeah, we coming with the black ones, real soon.”

Ye didn’t want them to be sold for $350.

“I didn’t want them to be limited, actually. That’s something the company did. I really want as many people to get them as possible. I don’t want the price to be $350. I don’t want to play this, like, sneaker culture game and all this so they be reselling them for high prices and stuff. I want people to have what I make.”

Kanye never heard Beck’s album till after the Grammys.

“I went to dinner and sat down with Taylor Swift, and ironically they were playing the Beck album,” West said. “Man, this is kinda good. I ain’t even going to lie” he adds.

Kim Kardashian’s Paper Magazine cover.

“We’re not gonna accept the physique that was given to us. My daughter has a chance of being shaped like my wife so between this age and the age when she’s like that, I’m gonna be fighting for that shape to be considered the highest of class.” He also added “She can get naked if she wants to. It’s not illegal to get naked.”

Kanye West is a “futurist” when it comes to footwear.

“People joke that they [Yeezy Boost] sorta look like the UGGs right, but what’s so bugged out is that I’m really working on trying to make a sexier UGG.”

“I see stuff from the future and I’m always like I’m such a futurist that I have to slow down to talk in the present. And this is a proposition to where I think shoe will go.”

Amber Rose wouldn’t exist sans Yeezus.

“She’s just soaking in the moment,” states Kanye about Amber. “If Kim had dated me when I first wanted to be with her, there wouldn’t be an Amber Rose. It’s very hard for a woman to wanna be with someone that’s with Amber Rose. I had to take thirty showers before I got with Kim.”

He creepily accepts Tyga and Kylie’s “relationship.”

“I think he got in early,” said Ye of Tyga. “I think he was smart. They are closer in age than a lot of relationships that I know. I knew Tyga was smart.”

A Louis Farrakhan documentary is coming and West is working on it.

“He’s a classically-trained violinist.”

Poppa Yeezy kept Kanye out of the Ferguson and Eric Garner protests.

“My dad would email me and say, ‘Stay out of it.’ That’s my only parent, so I have to listen to him sometimes. I can’t run in front of every bullet.”

Beyonce and Kim are like LeBron and Kobe. Also, Beyonce has photos of Kim on her wall.

“They love each other. They respect each other. When Beyoncé’s working on her album, she has pictures of Kim on the wall because Kim represents powerful women. They definitely respect each other. Maybe there’s a LeBron James, Kobe element.”

Wolves was originally a collaborative album between Kanye and Drake.

“The ‘Wolves’ song came from a conversation that me and Drake had when we was gonna do an album together, and the album is called Wolves.”

“I asked [Drake] and we talked about it and he said, yeah, we was gon’ do it.”

His album is 80% finished.

“[It’s gonna be] bars, songs, cookout music that just feels good,” Kanye said about the project. “My last album was a protest to music, I was like ‘I’m gonna take my ball and go home’…This album is embracing the music, joy. Being of service to the people. I just hope people like it and enjoy it.”
