Bat-fans or even just Batman fans – whatever you want to call them, they’re all over the world. In fact, the latest film ‘Batman’ is said to have generated over $128 million in ticket sales in just one weekend. How do you know if you’re a true die-hard fan though? That’s easy – by knowing everything there is to know about the films, the actors, and even Batman as a brand. So, without further ado, here are some of the best facts that every Batman nerd needs to know.
You can study it at a university
Canada’s University of Victoria offers a Batmanology course! That’s right, students get to learn everything about the Dark Knight and uncover whether a real human body would be able to tolerate and achieve what Batman does.
While applying to a university to study Batman’s life might be slightly extreme, there are other ways you can brush up on your knowledge. ExpressVPN has just launched a Batman infographic, for example, which highlights all the villains and their split personas. There are also tonnes of Batman facts community boards – as well as this article, of course – where superfans show off and share their in-depth knowledge. So, if a university degree is a bridge too far, you can still brush up on your Batman facts.
There’s a city called Batman
While we’d like to try and tell you that the city in southern Turkey was named after the superhero, really that isn’t the case. In fact, in 2008, the mayor of Batman even tried to sue Warner Bros and Christopher Nolan for using the name without his permission. Unfortunately, the case didn’t have much ground in a trial.
The Batsuit was originally another color
You might think that Batman was always dressed in dark and stealthy colors but the original designs were very different! Bob Kane first drew Batman in a red all-in-one suit sporting bright blonde hair. That’s a little different from how we think of Batman now!
It costs $300 million to be Batman
Author and assistant professor Darren Hudson Hick revealed that it would cost around $300 million to turn yourself into Batman. This includes the outfit as well as a supercomputer, bomb shelter conversion, car, custom boat, plane, and space station to name a few.
Kevin Conroy is the longest-serving Batman
A number of actors have played Batman over the years, including George Clooney and Christian Bale, but the longest-serving one is Kevin Conroy who played Batman for 25 years. He first appeared in 1992 in the TV series and then went on to feature in 10 video games, 13 movies, and 8 TV series.
Batman is more intelligent than Albert Einstein
While Batman may be a fictional character, he actually has an IQ – and it’s higher than Albert Einstein’s. The physicist is said to have an IQ of 160-180, while Bruce Wayne has one of around 192. Not just that but he has a huge variety of skills and knows over 120 forms of martial arts. Batman can also speak more than seven languages and has multiple degrees in science and engineering. If that isn’t impressive enough, Batman only needs one hour of sleep too. In fact, it’s as effective as us getting 8 hours.
So, there you have it – from what it costs to be Batman to getting to know the villains he’s up against, you’re in the know. With these facts and resources, you’ll be a Batman superfan in no time!
