5 NBA Teams With The Brightest Futures

  • April 24, 2015
  • Esfandiar Baraheni
NBA Teams
The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the 5 teams with the brightest futures in the NBA. Why? They may have the next great big man- Anthony Davis.

The NBA is forever changing. I mean 30 years ago we didn’t have a 3-point line, and now people are talking about adding a 4-point line? Just like the tides of the NBA change, the teams in the NBA change with those tides as well, especially the dominant ones. The great thing about the NBA are the teams, depending on cities, change in how good of a team they become. It’s the truth of the NBA, there are small market and big market teams, and for some teams it’s easier to rebuild. Right now, teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, and Memphis Grizzlies are dominating the NBA, how many times do you hear that?

1. Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers
Despite having one of their worst seasons in franchise history, the Los Angeles Lakers have a good future ahead, depending on Nick Young & Kobe Bryant’s future.

You knew the Los Angeles Lakers were going to be in this. With the new HUGE TV Deal coming the NBA’s way, money is going to be rolling into Los Angeles. They have enough cap room to sign a free agent like Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan, and Rajon Rondo. There has already been talks that Rajon Rondo will be leaving Dallas for the Lakers. Julius Randle. Remember him? Played his first NBA game and broke his leg? The 5th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft? He’s going to be back in the line up so Lakers fans won’t have to deal with Robert Sacre. Next year could be Kobe Bryant’s last year, and if it is, they’ll have the cap room (Kobe cap + TV Deal) to sign a Russell Westbrook, or Kevin Durant? The reason the Lakers are always a spot to go in free agency, and they can virtually get anyone, is because you’re playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in LOS ANGELES, as an NBA experience it’s probably one of the best. Lakers fans are happy about the TV deal.

2. Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics made it a little further then they thought this would this season and are playing in the Playoffs. Now they have lottery picks and experience to back up a free agent coming there.

The Boston Celtics got the luck of the Irish for sure. They aimed to tank this season and hope they’re lottery pick lands in the right spot, but their results? They made the NBA Playoffs and got 11 picks through being involved in essentially any trade this year. Not to mention the TV deal that will be sweeping the NBA, the Celtics (like the Lakers) are aiming for sign a big contract player. The Boston Celtics are basically a team full of role players including; Jae Crowder, Evan Turner, and the best of them all, your sixth man Isaiah Thomas. Why wouldn’t anyone want to sign their, where they can be the star of the show? The Celtics have a very bright future.

3. Utah Jazz

Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz have 3 stars in the making, but can they capitalize on their momentum and grow as a team? They’re missing a point guard.

The Utah Jazz are poised to become the next team coming up in the Western Conference. They traded Enes Kanter and became 14th in Defensive efficiency. They have Rudy Gobert who has become one of the best shot blockers in the NBA, and arguably the most improved player this year. They have their core ‘stars’ in Derrick Favors and Gordan Hayward. The only thing they are missing is a true point guard, because none of their PG’s have really worked out. Maybe getting a couple draft picks will help them find their future PG? Only time will tell, but they are becoming a fun team to watch in the NBA.

4. Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers might have found a gem in Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid, who are poised to make the 76ers a dominate force in the East once again.

The Philadelphia 76ers have been tanking for what seems like forever and it might start paying off. They have a young defensive roster, who led the league in steals. They have a defensive center in Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid hasn’t even played an NBA game yet. If they can keep building through the draft through all the lottery picks and picks they have in general, they will become a better team in the poor Eastern conference. With the money coming in they may be able to grab some role players and hope that they’re players develop into a franchise player, like the 76ers have done before.

5. New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans have the next great one on their team, his name’s Anthony Davis. If they can stay healthy and find pieces that match Davis, they will be a rising team.

There is a huge possibility that the next ‘great one’ is going to be a big man. Who? Anthony Davis. He has everything you want in a franchise player and he’s only 21. They have a solid team in Norris Cole, Jrue Holiday, Ryan Anderson, and Tyreke Evans. Just like the Utah jazz, they lack a point guard to who can lead and stay healthy. If they can get healthy players around him, and just watch Anthony Davis grow, they may become the best team in the NBA. That’s only if they can stay healthy.

Now this list is not in order of who has the brightest future in the NBA. There are many teams out there that can find themselves in a position to win soon, but which one of these 5, will win an NBA championship first? I’m going to go with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers always attract a lot of free agency talent, so they are bound to get some one. They’ve already been linked to players like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, and LaMarcus Aldridge. Look at it this way, if the Lakers can sign Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge this year, and hopefully Rondo still wants to sign in LA. You would have LaMarcus, Julius Randle, and Wesley Johnson as your big men, and having Kobe and Rondo as your guards, which is definitely an upgrade from last year. Just like always, the Lakers will find a way to dominate, once again.
