5 Dangerous Health Conditions and What You Need to Know About Them

No one lives forever. There are many dangerous conditions that humans can contract, and some of them prove fatal. You can counteract some of them by living healthy and getting regular doctor checkups.

You should never ignore symptoms. If you feel certain that something isn’t right, you need to get it checked out immediately. Doing so can save your life.

In this article, we’ll talk about some dangerous conditions and illnesses. We’ll discuss whether you can avoid them, as well as some possible treatment options.

Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a cancer variety. It usually affects the lungs. However, it can also affect:

• The heart
• The stomach
• Other organs

In some instances, it can take between 10 and 50 years for mesothelioma symptoms to emerge. Some 9/11 first responders are now showing mesothelioma signs, as are those who lived and worked close to where the Towers went down in 2001.

There is no mesothelioma cure. It is one of the most aggressive and deadly cancer varieties. If you have chest pain, breath shortness, and a chronic cough, that could indicate that you have it.

You can get treatment for it, but medical science cannot do that much if you contract it. It is very rare, with only about 20,000 US deaths per year.

The best way to avoid it is to stay away from the asbestos which causes it. If you move into a new house, make sure to bring in experts who can locate any asbestos and get rid of it. You should not attempt to remove the asbestos yourself since you probably don’t have the necessary protective equipment.

Heart Disease

You might hear doctors use the terms “heart disease” and “cardiovascular disease” interchangeably. This is a condition where:

• Blood vessels narrow
• You can develop blood clots

If your blood vessels narrow, or if anything blocks them, you can have a heart attack or stroke. You can also develop angina, which is severe chest pain.

Medical science cannot cure heart disease. However, there are some potential treatments. High blood pressure is a significant heart disease contributor.

You can lower your blood pressure if you lose weight and eat a healthier diet. That means lots of fiber and fresh fruits, veggies, legumes, raw nuts, and lean meat and fish.

You can also lower your cholesterol, which can partially reverse coronary artery plaque buildup. Again, diet and exercise can help. You can watch your weight, and you can ingest less red meat, eggs, and butter.

You want to stop ingesting trans fats and saturated fats. Talk to a doctor or your nutritionist to get some suggestions. Eating a lot of Omega-3 fatty acids can help you a great deal.

Diabetes

Most people have heard of diabetes, but not that many understand it. Diabetes is not a single disease but a group of them. There are Type 1 diabetes and Type 2.

With Type 1, your pancreas cannot produce insulin as it should. Doctors are not sure what causes Type 1 diabetes, though they continue to research it.

Type 2 is where the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or it cannot use it effectively. If you are overweight, you might develop Type 2 diabetes. You also may contract it if you don’t exercise, and you eat a poor diet.

If you wish to stave off Type 2 diabetes, you can exercise regularly and maintain a lower body weight. You can also keep your blood pressure down and eat lots of fiber.

Fiber can keep you regular, but it also helps you control your blood sugar. Legumes contain fiber, as do vegetables and fruits.

Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia Types

People often think about memory loss when they hear the terms dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. These are diseases that destroy the memory. They also prohibit normal mental functions.

If you have a severe dementia case, you cannot behave typically. You might not be able to think or reason as you normally would. That is why, if you encounter someone who has dementia, they might behave irrationally.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are so awful because you might no longer recognize a person who has them. They might become a confused, frightened individual who you can’t leave alone, as they might start a fire or do something else to harm themselves or others.

We won’t know of a way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. We know that older individuals can contract it. We know that if you suffered previous head trauma, that makes it more likely you can develop it. Women are more likely to have these conditions than men.

Doctors do recommend that you eat a heart-healthy diet if you have dementia concerns. You should eat more vegetables and fruits, and don’t consume many saturated fats.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a progressive, long-term lung disease type. Emphysema is one kind of it, as is chronic bronchitis.

If you contract COPD, it makes your breathing difficult. If you had respiratory infections when you were young, you are in a higher risk group.

You can also get it if you are around secondhand smoke a lot or if you smoke yourself. If you work in a job where you are around many chemical fumes, that can cause it too.

Medical science does not have a COPD cure. There are some treatments, though. The best way to avoid it is to stay away from chemical irritants.

You can also quit smoking and keep away from individuals who smoke. Many bars and restaurants no longer allow smoking, which is a great way to prevent COPD. However, try to avoid any enclosed area with smoking individuals.

You can avoid many of these conditions if you exercise, eat a healthy diet, and keep your body weight down. You also have a higher chance of contracting some of them as you get older, so as you age, it’s more important than ever to moderate your behaviors.
