The four-time Pro Bowler had been released by Seattle on Friday cementing the end of the Legion of Boom. Sherman had been keen on joining a contender after his release. Sherman was set to visit the Detriot Lions later this week but will nix the trip in light of the new deal.
Richard Sherman’s Seahawks had a well-known rivalry with the 49er’s during the years both teams were vying NFC supremacy. The Seahawks did eventually bring home the Super Bowl, led by Sherman’s league-leading defense.
The new look 49ers seem to make the mark for a contender after several moves so far. This includes grabbing Jimmy G at the end of last season, Sherman’s new deal and a top pick in the upcoming draft.
