Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter has elected to relocate his famed 40/40 Club in New York. After 20 years in the Flatiron District, Carter aims to find a new location in New York and reopen next year. With the new location, the entertainment mogul aims to keep the same “clubhouse” feeling that permeated throughout the original location.
“I wanted to retain the feel of a clubhouse, a relaxed place to interact with friends,” he told Rolling Stone.
The first 40/40 Club location opened in 2003 and the brand has expanded to as many as five locations. While two locations have closed, the Jay-Z-led brand has a presence in Atlanta at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center. Throughout the years, everyone from J. Cole to LeBron James has hosted mixtape release celebrations, birthday parties, private gatherings and much more.
Details regarding the new location remain under wraps. However, the locations in Brooklyn and Atlanta will remain open for the foreseeable future.
