Green Bay holds the 27th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Packers are normally a team that loves to do its damage this time of year rather than becoming big spenders on the free agent market. Who will General Manager Ted Thompson target this year?
The Packers are a team that makes mock drafts difficult to project. Green Bay normally takes the best player available leaving the question of who that actually might be? One place that absolutely needs help is along the offensive line. Last year center J.C. Tretter started a playoff game at left tackle….. Knowing the Packers philosophy he they likely look in the later rounds to fill those voids.
Another place the Pack could look is inside linebacker. To me Alabama’s Reggie Ragland would be a really nice fit for two reasons. One is the pick would allow Green Bay to move Clay Mathews back to outside linebacker creating more sacks. The second is Ragland is an instant impact from day one and will be a tackling machine in the 3-4 defense.
In reality outside of offensive and defensive line the Packers have a very good roster. In a draft with such interior line depth expect Green Bay to lean heavy in those areas.
