The 4th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft belongs to the Dallas Cowboys. The injury to Tony Romo doomed the 2015 Cowboys after a series of quarterbacks couldn’t hold the fort. After a disappointing 4-12 season where will the Cowboys look for help come draft day?
With the 4th overall draft pick it appears the Cowboys will take either Ezekiel Elliot or Joey Bosa. Both players make sense philosophically in terms of need and scheme fit. Elliot would give the Cowboys a running game similar to when DeMarco Murray was in town redefining the offense. Bosa on the other hand would give the Cowboys much needed defensive line depth considering Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory are suspended for the first month of the year. Bosa to me is more of a 3rd round pick that is lacking the twitch pass rushing ability but if anyone is going to get the most out of him is defensive line coach Rod Marinelli who is considered the game’s best.
Another direction the team could go in that no one is talking about is either Jalen Ramsey or Laremy Tunsil. Jalen Ramsey paired in the secondary with Byron Jones would give Dallas a much need boast to a team that ranked 32nd in takeaways. Tunsil on the other hand would create an interesting dynamic giving Dallas the best offensive without question. Tunsil plugged in at right tackle is a dynamic the entire league needs to be talking about.
In the later rounds Dallas will likely spend most of their picks on the defensive side of the ball. With needs at all three levels of the defense, Dallas could add players that are specific to their 4-3 defense. Some of those players could include guys like Deon Jones at linebacker or Carl Nassib at defensive end.
