The Chicago Bears will hold the 11th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Chicago will essentially have 2 first round picks considering 2015 first rounder Kevin White missed the entire season. Who will the Bears target in the draft in order to return to the postseason for the first time since 2010.
Chicago for starters is one team that could use a quarterback. Carson Wentz is likely off the board, but there are some option the Bears could consider. Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch could be a superstar in the making. Lynch, 6’6″, is also extremely mobile for his size running a 4.86 40 yard dash. With his athleticism and elite arm strength Lynch could be the next Ben Roethlisberger. Just remember Roethlisberger also came from a small school Miami of Ohio. Other developmental quarterbacks include Christian Hackenberg and Cardale Jones.
Another place to look for help is the runningback position. Matt Forte is off to the Jets leaving just Jeremy Langford and Jacquizz Rodgers as viable tail back options. Having said this Alex Collins of Arkansas seems to be a perfect fit. Collins can catch, block, and get the goal line duties. This could also be another possible destination for Derrick Henry if he slips to Chicago in round 2.
On defense I would like to see the Bears attack the secondary and interior defensive line. With the signings of Jerell Freeman and Danny Trevathan it appears to linebacking core appears to be taken care of. One interesting cornerback option includes Kendall Fuller. Virginia Tech defensive backs always appear to pan out allowing him to also reunite with his brother Kyle Fuller as the opposite corner. The youngest Fuller brother could be an option in round 2.
