Billboard has announced that the 2020 Billboard Music Awards have been postponed. The award show was set to take place on April 29, 2020 in Las Vegas and air live on NBC. Now, the show will be pushed back to an undetermined date.
“In accordance with the current guidelines set forth by national and local health officials and in order to ensure the health and safety of our artists, fans, guests and staff – we are postponing the Billboard Music Awards,” NBC and Dick Clark Productions stated in a joint statement.
“We look forward to celebrating the incredible artists who topped those charts over the last year. dcp and NBC will announce a new date and venue for the show in the near future,” NBC added.
Billboard Music Awards joins the Country Music Awards as the second major award show to be postponed. The Country Music Awards were set to take place during the first week of April and are now set for September.
NBC has not indicated a potential new date for the Billboard Music Awards yet.
