Big 10 conference basketball has had a super competitive season with Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, and Wisconsin fighting hard for the conference title. Players like Carsen Edwards, Cassius Winston, and Ethan Happ have proved their worth and are all in the running for Big 10 player of the year. These players along with others have earned awards for their outstanding play.

Big 10 Conference Player of the Year- Carsen Edwards/Purdue

Carsen Edwards has had a phenomenal year for Purdue. The guard is the Big 10 leading scorer averaging over 23 points per game. Edwards is also second in three-point percentage in the Big 10 and he’s also top ten in assists per game. Edwards is an offensive machine for the Boilermakers and is a big part of their success. The Purdue guard also averages 1.5 steals per game which puts him at third in the Big 10.

Defensive Player of the Year- Jon Teske/Michigan

The Michigan Wolverines center has had an outstanding season on the defensive end of the court. Teske leads the Big 10 in blocks per game with just over 2 a game. The 7’1″ big man has been a massive paint presence this year. He also has a defensive rating under 84 which is the best in the Big 10 and top five in the NCAA. Teske also averages 4.7 defensive rebounds per game.

Freshman of the Year- Romeo Langford/Indiana

The Indiana Hoosiers haven’t exactly had the ideal season, especially in Conference play. A bright spot for the team is the freshman, Romeo Langford. The talented first-year player has led the way for the Hoosiers this season. Langford is leading the team in points per game with right at 17, second in rebounds per game with over five, and third in assists per game with around 2.3. He is also one of the teams best defenders.
