The Golden Globe nominations have been announced and we’ve taken it upon ourselves to give you our predictions on how everything will go down. We’ve listed our predictions for the nominations and projected winners for every major category.
Best Motion Picture – Drama
The Post – (Winner)
Call Me By Your Name
Dunkirk
Three Billboards
The Shape of Water
With the current political climate being what it is and it recently being named the best film of the year by The National Board of Review it’s hard to see this film not walking away with the Golden Globe.

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Get Out (Winner)
The Greatest Showman
Lady Bird
The Disaster Artist

This award should come down to The Disaster Artist and Get Out. Though, the cultural impact of ‘Get Out’ should be able to push it over the top. Or, The Hollywood Foreign press could just vote for ‘The Greatest Showman’, because you know, musicals.
Best Performance By An Actress In A Motion Picture – Drama
Meryl Streep – The Post
Jessica Chastain – Molly’s Game
Sally Hawkins -The Shape of Water (Winner)
Frances McDormand -Three Billboards
Michelle Williams – All The Money In The World
With ‘The Shape of Water’ gaining some serious traction this awards season Sally Hawkins has been at the forefront of the awards conversation. This category is a bit of a toss-up but the more technical aspects of Hawkins performance may be what puts her over the top.

Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture – Drama
Daniel Day Lewis – The Phantom Thread
Tom Hanks – The Post
Gary Oldman – The Darkest Hour (Winner)
Timothée Chalamet – Call Me By Your Name
Denzel Washington – Roman J. Israel, Esq.
There have been a lot of Winston Churchill roles this year hasn’t there? Regardless, the iconic UK Prime Minister is a role that Gary Oldman nailed in the Darkest Hour, a main reason for it being such a successful movie.

Best Performance By An Actress In A Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Soairse Ronan – Lady Bird
Margot Robbie – I, Tonya (Winner)
Judi Dench – Victoria and Abdul
Emma Stone – Battle of the Sexes
Helen Mirren – The Leisure Seeker
After years of steadily climbing up the ladder of awards consideration, 2017 should be the year Margot Robbie takes home her first major trophy.

Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
James Franco – The Disaster Artist (Winner)
Ansel Elgort -Baby Driver
Daniel Kaluuya – Get Out
Hugh Jackman – The Greatest Showman
Steve Carrell – Battle Of The Sexes
Man, The HFP really messed this one up. Kumail Nanjiani has been at the top of everyone’s comedic performance list all year but yet failed to garner a nomination. This award was supposed to come down to Kumail and Franco but unfortunately, it’s only Franco’s to lose now. Franco gave an epic performance in ‘The Disaster Artist’ that is truly worthy of the award but it’s rather unfortunate that he didn’t even get to face off against truly worthy competition.

Best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role – Any Motion Picture
Allison Janney – I, Tonya
Laurie Metcalf – Lady Bird
Octavia Spencer – The Shape of Water (Winner)
Hong Chau – Downsizing
Mary J. Blige – Mudbound
Octavia Spencer builds off her phenomenal performance in ‘Hidden Figures’ with her performance as Zelda in ‘The Shape of Water’ and despite the competition from all the other wonderful actresses in this category, Spencer should be the one who ends up on top.

Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role – Any Motion Picture
Willem Dafoe – The Florida Project
Richard Jenkins, The Shape Of Water
Sam Rockwell – Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Armie Hammer- Call Me By Your Name
Christopher Plummer – All The Money In The World (Winner)
The fact that Christopher Plummer is even nominated at all should be enough of a sign. The legendary actor took on the role less than a month ago in response to the downfall of actor Kevin Spacey. With that short of a turn around time, this in our opinion is a near lock.

Best Director – Motion Picture
Steven Spielberg – The Post
Christopher Nolan – Dunkirk (Winner)
Ridley Scott – All The Money In The World
Guillermo Del Toro – The Shape of Water
Martin McDonagh – THREE BILLBOARDS
Given the international aspect of Golden Globe awards voting body, Nolan seems like close to a shoe-in for this award.

Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
Molly’s Game
Three Billboards
The Post (Winner)
Lady Bird
The Shape Of Water
‘The Post’ will look to start off its awards season run on a high note by taking home the best screenplay golden globe. Seriously though, how was ‘Get Out’ not nominated?

Best Motion Picture – Animated
Ferdinand
Coco
Loving Vincent
The Breadwinner (The Winner)
The Boss Baby
Adapted from one of the greatest children’s books of all time. ‘The Breadwinner’ will be taking the award for ‘Best Animated Motion Picture’ despite the fierce competition of films like ‘Boss Baby’ and ‘The Lego Batman Movie’.
Best Original Score – Motion Picture
Dunkirk – Hans Zimmer
Alexandre Desplat – The Shape Of Water
Jonny Greenwood – Phantom Thread
Carter Burwell, Three Billboards
The Post- John Williams (Winner)
John Williams is in an icon and titan of the industry. When you consider his historical clout and the speed at which he put this score together, you have to consider him a heavy favorite moving forward this awards season.

Best Television Series – Drama
Game Of Thrones
The Handmaid’s Tale – (Winner)
Stranger Things
This Is Us
The Crown
Hulu has really done did it with Handmaid’s Tale. Adapted from the famous Margaret Atwood book, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ showed the very tense topic of sexual servitude and for it’s gripping drama and social relevance, this show is going to be taking home a lot of awards this year.

Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Will & Grace
Master of None
Black-Ish (Winner)
SMILF
This award is very up in the air, though since it was omitted in other questionable categories, we’re expecting (and hoping) that ‘Black-Ish’ takes home the globe for best comedy.

Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture for Television
Big Little Lies (Winner)
Fargo
Feud
Top Of The Lake: China Girl
The Sinner
Big Little Lies was one of the top TV success stories of the year and won the Emmy in this category just a few months back. There’s even talk of a second season.

Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series – Drama
Claire Foy – The Crown
Maggie Gyllenhaal – The Deuce
Katherine Langford -13 REASONS WHY
Elisabeth Moss – The Handmaid’s Tale (Winner)
Caitriona Balfe – OUTLANDER
Elisabeth Moss was truly remarkable in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and with the show’s popularity, there is no question that Moss should be at least nominated. Despite the competition being tough, Moss’ intense performance should give her the award.

Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series – Drama
Liev Schreiber – Ray Donovan
Jason Bateman – Ozark
Freddie Highmore – The Good Doctor
Sterling K. Brown – This Is Us (Winner)
Bob Odenkirk – Better Call Saul
This Is Us is the number one tear jerking show on TV and for that reason, it deserves a lot of love this year at the Golden Globes. There were a lot of good performances this year but Sterling K. Brown’s performance as the over-protective father to his daughter really puts him over the top.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy
PAMELA ADLON, BETTER THINGS (Winner)
Issa Rae – Insecure
Frankie Shaw -SMILF
Alison Brie- GLOW
Rachel Brosnahan – THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL
Better Things has been one of the most critically acclaimed comedies on the air this year. This race is wide open, but we believe that the actress behind the FX comedy has the best shot at taking this statue home.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy
Aziz Ansari – Master of None
Anthony Anderson – Black-Ish (Winner)
Eric McCormack – Will & Grace
William H. Macy – Shameless
Kevin Bacon – I Love Dick
I’m not sure how many this will be for Anthony Anderson and the hilarious cast of ‘Black-Ish’ but be prepared for another year of them sweeping the comedy section of the awards, and we’re completely ok with that.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Jessica Biel – The Sinner
Nicole Kidman – Big Little Lies (Winner)
Jessica Lange – Feud
Susan Sarandon – Feud
Reese Witherspoon – Big Little Lies
It was a tough competition, but Kidman triumphed at the Emmys for her layered role as a domestic violence survivor.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Kyle Maclachlan – TWIN PEAKS
Robert De Niro – The Wizard of Lies
Jude Law – The Young Pope
Ewan McGregor – Fargo (Winner)
Geoffrey Rush – Genius
Without the Emmy winner of the category (The Night Of) to contend with, this race is much more open. However, McGregor’s double role as twins could give him an edge.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Michelle Pfeiffer- The Wizard of Lies
Ann Dowd – The Handmaidens Tale
Shailene Woodley – Big Little Lies
Chrissy Metz – THIS IS US
Laura Dern – Big Little Lies (Winner)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Christian Slater – Mr. Robot
David Thewlis – Fargo
ALEXANDER SKARSGÅRD -BIG LITTLE LIES (winner)
David Harbour – Stranger Things
Alfred Molina – FEUD: BETTE AND JOAN
Big Little Lie’s has proven to be awards gold so far this year. Look for Skarsgard to keep that train rolling.
