It appears the death of the NBA was greatly exaggerated. Kevin Durant and the Warriors built one of the greatest teams ever made and many believe that to be the downfall of the league. The inevitability of a Warriors win this season didn’t ultimately damage the ratings, however. In fact, the Warriors matchup with LeBron’s own super team in the 2017 NBA Finals garnered some of the best ratings the NBA has ever seen.
News: This was the most-watched #NBAFinals since 1998 and in @ABCNetwork history.

This is good news for the NBA, who are no fans of star players joining together. The true test will be if people stay interested if this lasts a few more seasons. No team appears close to either of these juggernauts and team fatigue may set in. The good news is, 1998 was Michael Jordan’s sixth title. So, the Warriors have at least 3 more appearances before things turn truly tedious.
