The NFL announced the annual supplemental draft will be held July 9. NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport reported the news. Four players will be eligible for the draft including West Georgia’s Dalvon Stuckey and Darrius Caldwell, as well as NC Central’s Adrian Wilkins and Clemson’s Isiah Battle.
Stuckey and Caldwell will hold their pro day’s on Thursday July 2nd. A reported 20 teams are scheduled to attend the West Georgia pro day, but neither player is likely to be picked baring an outstanding workout. The same can be said for Wilkins as the wide out will hold his pro day on July 8th.
Isiah Battle from Clemson is considered the best prospect out of the four with the best chance to be selected. Battle will hold his pro day July 7th being the only prospect coming from an FBS school. Battle could be selected in the 6th or 7th round which would mark the first time a player was picked in the supplemental draft since Josh Gordon in 2012.
The Browns used a second round pick on Gordon which was then forfeited their 2013 2nd round pick for drafting Gordon. Bernie Kosar and Chris Carter are the most notorious supplemental picks but these picks are far from a guarantee as these players have often found themselves in trouble which is the main reason they were ineligible for the traditional NFL Draft.
