15 Most Anticipated Movies This Summer

Temperatures are rising which means summer movie season is almost here! June to September will see some of the best movies of this year! Take a look at our list of the 15 Most Anticipated Movies of the Summer:

 

1.) Transformers: Age of Extinction– 6/27

Genre: Action

Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Jack Renner, Stanley Tucci, Nicola Peltz

A mechanic and his daughter make a discovery that brings down Autobots and Decepticons – and a paranoid government official – on them in the fourth installment of the Transformers series.

2.) Tammy – 7/2

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Allison Janney, Gary Cole.

Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), is her only option?with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.

3.) Earth To Echo – 7/2

Genre: Animation/Sci-Fi Adventure

Starring: Teo Halm, Astro, Reese C. Hartwig, Ella Wahlestedt

Tuck, Munch and Alex are a closely bonded trio of inseparable friends, but their time together is coming to an end. Their neighborhood is being destroyed by a highway construction project that is forcing their families to move away. But just two days before they must part ways, the boys find a cryptic signal has infected their phones. Convinced something bigger is going on and looking for one final adventure together, they set off to trace the messages to their source and discover something beyond their wildest imaginations: hiding in the darkness is a mysterious being, stranded on Earth, and wanted by the government. This launches the boys on an epic journey full of danger and wonder, one that will test the limits of their friendship and change all of their lives forever.

4.) Deliver Us From Evil – 7/2

Genre: Supernatural Thriller

Starring: Eric Bana, Edgar Ramierez, Olivia Munn, & Joel McHale

In “Deliver Us From Evil,” New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. 

5.) Dawn of the Planet of The Apes – 7/11

Genre: Action/Fantasy

Starring: Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

6.) The Purge: Anarchy – 7/18

Genre: Thriller

Starring: Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Carmen Ejogo

A defenseless young couple find themselves stranded in the city on the one night of the year that all crime, including murder, is legal in this self-contained sequel.

7.) Sex Tape – 7/18

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Jason Segel & Cameron Diaz

When Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) first got together, their romantic connection was intense – but ten years and two kids later, the flame of their love needs a spark. To kick things up a notch, they decide  to make a video of themselves trying out every position in The Joy of Sex in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea – until they discover that their most private video is no longer private. With their reputations on the line, they know they’re just one click away from being laid bare to the world… but as their race to reclaim their video leads to a night they’ll never forget, they’ll find that their video will expose even more than they bargained for. 

8.) Lucy – 7/25

Genre: Action/Thriller

Starring: Scarlett Johansson & Morgan Freeman

Scarlett Johansson stars as “Lucy,” an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. 

9.) Hercules – 7/25

Genre: Action/Adventure/Fantasy

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Aksel Hennie, Ian McShane, Rebecca Ferguson

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend… Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.

10.) Get On Up – 8/1

Genre: Drama/Musical

Starring: Chaswick Boseman, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, & Jill Scott

Chadwick Boseman stars as James Brown in “Get on Up.” Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.

11.) Step Up: All In – 8/8

Genre: Dance/Drama

Starring: Alyson Stoner, Briana Evigan, Ryan Guzman, & Stephen Boss

In the fourth chapter of the Step Up series, all-stars from previous installments return in Viva Las Vegas, battling for a victory that could define their dreams and careers.

12.) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – 8/8

Genre: Action

Starring: Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Ritchson

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan

13.) Lets Be Cops – 8/13

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Damon Wayans Jr., Jake Johnson, Nina Dobrev

It’s the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they’re not cops. When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted heroes get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.

14. Jessebelle – 8/29

Genre: Horror

Starring: Sarah Snook, Mark Webber & David Andrews

Returning to her childhood home in Louisiana to recuperate from a horrific car accident, Jessabelle (Sarah Snook of “Sleeping Beauty”) comes face to face with a long-tormented spirit that has been seeking her return — and has no intention of letting her escape. 

15.) No Good Deed– 9/12

Genre: Thriller

Starring: Taraji P. Henson, Idris Elba, & Leslie Bibb

Terri (Taraji P. Henson), a devoted wife and mother of two, lives an ideal life that takes a dramatic turn when her home and children are threatened by Colin (Idris Elba), a charming stranger who smooth-talks his way into her house, claiming car trouble. The unexpected invitation leaves her and her family terrorized and fighting for survival.
