Higher Learning
(Colombia Pictures)

College may seem to be so overwhelming that you don’t want to hear about it outside of campus.
But watching college movies that portray the best aspects of college life can be actually relaxing and may even restore your faith in fun college experience! Students often use dissertation writing services and watch favorite films every night.

Here are some of the most engaging movies showing college life.

1. Higher Learning (1995)

The movie shows how people with completely different backgrounds can encounter in college. Some stories are quite tragic, involving racism and even rape, but the film generally depicts how one matures and learns about responsibilities in college.

Why should you watch it?

While being an excellent drama about the role of college in the growing up process, the movie gives a lovely opportunity to recall what being a college student looked like without owning a smartphone or a laptop!

2. Good Will Hunting (1997)

The story about a gifted mathematician will tell you how one can never have everything at once. Even though he is a genius, Will experiences some mental issues and finds help of a psychologist, who directs him in his life journey, starting with college experience.

Why should you watch it?

We all find ourselves being anxious and withdrawn from society from time to time, which is especially likely to happen in college. But the movie teaches how not to give up who you are and what you can do in spite of all the challenges you face.

3. Legally Blonde (2001)

The iconic movie portrays the environment of Harvard Law School as it is seen from the perspective of a young blonde, who decides to follow her boyfriend in college. It’s a story of how determination and intellect can overcome stereotypes and socially accepted norms, which seem to be so important to follow in a college setting.

Why should you watch it?

It’s an inspiring film that can serve as a wonderful reminder for you not to care what others think and how people perceive you. The example of the main character shows how one can achieve success by embracing own strengths. Indeed, it’s the right motivation to keep studying when college becomes too tiring and stressful!

4. Mona Lisa Smile (2003)

Set in the 1950s, an art professor challenges social norms existing at that time and teaches her female students to do the same. They question the role of marriage as the main achievement of a woman in life.

Eurotrip
(Dreamworks)

Completely unrealistic but extremely fun, the film depicts the adventures of a group of teens that go on a summer trip before starting college.

Why should you watch it?

While being entertaining, the movie emphasizes what a responsible period of one’s life college is, so having fun is better before (or after) it, and not while being a student!

6. Accepted (2006)

After getting his college application rejected, a teenager invents a non-existing school to avoid disappointing his parents. Others teens in a similar situation start to apply, and they organize a dream curriculum, but the truth comes out eventually and grows into a scandal.

The Social Network

8. The Social Network (2010)

A Harvard student creates a social networking website that goes viral, which is a fact-based movie of how Facebook occurred.

Why should you watch it?

With all the drama and legal issues surrounding the story, it shows how college can help you to realize who you are, who you want to be, and who you cannot be.

9. Pitch Perfect (2012)

A musical comedy portrays an ongoing fight between a group of female singers and a group of male performances that takes place in college.

Why should you watch it?

Another inspiring film about how any stereotypes and social or gender norms no longer matter when true talent is involved.

10. The Internship (2013)

A couple of students get an internship at Google that involves college-like learning. The main characters get to practice what they previously learned, which includes everything but the class materials.

Why should you watch it?

While not showing the life on campus in particular, the movie portrays how education provides us with a variety of vital skills besides the actual subject knowledge. All of these, such as teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving, are what we practice in college to later apply in the workplace.

No matter what, do not forget that college is just one of the stages of your life. Be sure to enjoy it and do your best to take the best college can offer!
