HP officially announced the Pavilion 14 Chromebook and it’s available right now for $330. This is considerably more expensive than other chromebooks or netbooks, but for the extra chunk of change you get a sleeker design and slightly improved performance over its competition. This device is powered with a 1.1GHz Intel Celeron 847 CPU, 2GB of RAM, has 16 GB of built-in flash storage, and a 1,366 x 768 display. For the first two years you’ll also get 100GB of Google Drive space for free.
The chromebook itself weighs around four pounds, making it heavier than its competition. However, what it loses in slim design it makes up for with more room for outputs. It has HDMI outputs, three USB 2.0 sockets, an ethernet jack, and it even comes with an SD reader for when you want to upload photos. Of course, it’s named the Pavilion 14 for a reason. The screen is 14-inches, giving it the biggest screen of any chromebook. One of its key downfalls is its short battery life: a measly four hours.
Taking the higher price into consideration you might be better off just getting a laptop, but if you don’t plan on using it for anything other than web browsing then it might be worth shelling out the extra cash for the better performance and nicer screen, especially if you’re a diehard OS fan.
