McDaniels appeared in 49 games with Brooklyn and Houston last season, holding per-game averages of 4.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 10.3 minutes. His 46 percent shooting mark from the floor was a career-best, as was his 30 percent shooting from 3-point range.
McDaniels, 24, is an explosive guard who has the ability to leap out of the gym. He’s shown steady improvement since being drafted out of Clemson in 2014, and became a free agent when Brooklyn declined to pick up his option for the 2017-18 season this past June.
McDaniels has spent three seasons in the league with the 76ers, Rockets and Nets. He also spent time in the D-League with Rio Grande during the 2015-16 season.
The Raptors also signed Alfonzo McKinnie, Kyle Wiltjer and Kennedy Meeks to deals this summer. McDaniels will work to compete with these players in training camp to solidify a spot on the team’s 2017-18 season roster.
