Oklahoma State Guard Marcus Smart Declares for the NBA Draft
Oklahoma State sophomore guard Marcus Smart has announced that he will enter the 2014 NBA Draft. Smart made a controversial decision by staying in school for his sophomore campaign after many scouts felt he could have been the No. 1 overall pick. Here was Smart’s statement to The Oklahoman:
“I’ve told my teammates and my coaching staff, this year was my last year here and I am declaring for the NBA Draft. I have picked an agent, with the Wasserman Group, a great group of guys.
Ready to rock and roll. I’m getting ready for the NBA Draft and I’m ready to start training.”
Smart averaged 17.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists for Oklahoma State this season. The Cowboys lost to Gonzaga in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Most assuring for NBA prospects when it comes to Marcus Smart are the physical attributes. He’s a strong, pro-built combo guard who has tremendous ability to create for himself and others. Expect Smart to be one of the first few guards selected in this year’s NBA Draft.
