Nordstrom’s latest Pop-In features everyone’s favorite skateboarding brand, Vans. The Pop-In celebrates Vans’ 50th anniversary. The collection consists of fuzzy, pastel sneakers; cool, suede styles; and apparel. Most of the sneakers are unisex (yes, even the fuzzy ones) with options for men and matching kids’ sizes. This Pop-In is limited edition and only sold at select Nordstrom stores and online.
It’s pretty clear that the skateboarding culture has heavily influenced the fashion world as of late. With concert merch working its way into everyday wardrobes, and sneakers and caps becoming everyone’s favorite accessories, there’s no denying the impact. It’s common to see on the streets. Nordstrom’s Vice President of Creative Project, Olivia Kim decided to jump on the bandwagon. Together with designer Alex Dymond, the created more “high-fashion” versions of the Vans that people love the most.
She didn’t want the collection to be too gender specific and made sure the shearling styles were unisex. I can honestly see a really stylish guy working those powder blue Chukka sneaker into his outfit. Now, these may not be the most functional but since when is fashion about practicality? Just don’t wear them in the rain. Especially in New York. Your feet will look like wet CareBears.
