For me Rookie of the month is always interesting. Not always the same guy. Especially this season. But on the Player of the month side… It’s the usual suspects and was not surprising who came up as the POTM.
For the Western Conference POTM we have big bad Blake Griffin. When Chris Paul back early February, everyone expected Griffin to concede power to Paul and go back to being number 2. But it seems that Blake is still bossing it. 30 PPG, 54 FG% and 10.7 RPG in the month of February. Here’s a very interesting statistic from NBA stats.
Rookie of the month for the West, Memphis guard Nick Calathes. Hard to believe he’s not over 40. 10.7 PPG, 4.6 APG and 3.6 RPG was his averaged for Feb. first Rookie of the month for the Grizz since OJ Mayo April 09.
And for the Eastern Conference we have LeBron.
I might as well stop there because we all know what he’s been doing the past month, 30 PPG, still averaging 55+ FG%. The 61 point game while wearing a mask. Subject of many memes this week due to the mask. The guy is a freaking beast and now it’s MVP bout we’ve wanted for years, a close one.
And to finish off we have Victor Oladipo for the Eastern Conference Rookie of the month. From the looks of it, only Oladipo and Michael Carter-Williams are in the running for Rookie of the year and rightly so. MCW and Oladipo (especially Oladipo) has been consistent through the months and is really taking hold of their teams. It’s good to see a top 10 draft pick actually doing well. We rarely see that these days…
