The Boston Celtics first move of the off-season, as reported by Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe, is to keep defensive stopper at the guard position, Avery Bradley.
@BaxterHolmes: Can confirm that the#Celtics & RFA Avery Bradley have agreed to a deal. Terms: 4-year-deal worth $32 million.
Bradley had a career year for the Celtics this past season. In his fourth season with the Celtics since being drafted 19th overall in the 2010 draft Bradley posted career-high averages of 14.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game last season to go along with shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from the three point line and a career-best 80.4 percent from the free throw line.
The one problem with the contract for Bradley is his durability. Bradley has played in more than 60 games once in his four year career. He has had a very injury filled career to this point and could have received more for his services but injuries do take a hit on some contract numbers.
With that being said, Bradley still is a great overall player and one of the more interesting two guards in the NBA. He stands at only 6’2 but is able to defend the point guards, shooting guards and even some smaller forwards. He was known from the beginning of his career to be just a defensive stopper and not much more to his game, but thanks to a break out season in 2014 look for Bradley to make more of an impact this season coming up, of course if he’s healthy enough to be able to do it.
