
HBO is making progress in the development of their new drama, Euphoria. Recently, reports indicated that HBO had made major progress in the casting for the new drama. Zendaya has been cast as the lead. Meanwhile, HBO has cast eleven other actors including Grey’s Anatomy Greg Dane, A Wrinkle in Time‘s Storm Reid, The Handmaid Tale‘s Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Angus Cloud, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira and Nika King. In addition, Augustine Frizzell will direct and executive produce the series alongside Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin and Tmira Yardeni.
Originally ordered in March, Euphoria is an adaptation of an Israeli series that centers around sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship told by a drug-addicted, lying teenage girl named Rue, who will be played by Zendaya. In addition to being cast in the new series, Zendaya will reportedly have a role in upcoming films like Duck Duck Goose, Smallfoot, Finest Kind, A White Lie and the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming.
