The Golden State Warriors will be tasked with worrying about the future of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry this summer. It’s fair to say those two players will be their number one priority as they try and keep two MVPs in Golden State long-term. However, a notable starting Warriors player has made it known early that he wants to return to Golden State next season.
That starter is none other than the Georgian center himself Zaza Pachulia. After signing a 1-year, $2.9 million contract this past summer, Pachulia has embraced his role on the juggernaut Warriors and is showing no signs of Golden State being a temporary home for him.
Following from Connor Letourneau of San Francisco Chronicle.
“I don’t want the season to end,” said Pachulia, who is expected to return soon from a right rotator-cuff strain that has sidelined him for Golden State’s past three games. “When people ask me about (free agency) this summer, I say, ‘I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying here.’ Even after June, I’m staying here.”
The Warriors are undoubtedly the most successful team Pachulia has been on in his career. Although he doesn’t have the numbers to show for it, Pachulia has bought into his minimal role and is enjoying every second of playing alongside two former MVPs and two other All-Stars. In a summer where the Warriors will have a lot on their plate, this is one less thing they’ll have to worry about after getting the Zaza stamp of approval.
