Launching off the era with his single, ‘PILLOWTALK,’ due to the strength of his fan-base and critical timing, the record reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 upon debut. Currently still sitting in the Top 10, the record finds itself with another boost as Zayn has dropped off a ‘PILLOWTALK’ remix with one of Hip-Hop’s finest, Lil Wayne.
Not being a new trick among Pop acts, rappers being enlisted is surely a tactic used to increase the Urban appeal for tunes. While not being effective for all records, Zayn & Lil Wayne come together to hit a home-run. Packing an extra punch via the production, but still remaining true to the original record’s sound, Lil Wayne floats all throughout the tune that also features a new verse from Zayn who tries his hand at rapping. If the point wasn’t clear on the song’s original version, it’s more than evident now. In what may appear as a risky move to some, the singer delivered where it mattered.
