Professional athletes make a ton of money and despite the bemoaning from non fans, they are often worth it. A large majority of the best and highest paid do not take it for granted, either. Players often do things to help their communities like John Wall selling his wardrobe for charity, LeBron James renovating the boys and girls club, and much more. The most recent donation in the NBA community comes from Grit n Grind co-owner Zach Randolph. Per Grizzlies.com, he will be donating $20,000 to MIFA (Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association).
Randolph’s donation will go directly to the MIFA Emergency Services Plus-1 program. Plus-1 is a program administered by MIFA to pay utility services for people in need.
This is Randolph’s seventh year contributing to MIFA and MLGW. His donation will be used to cover the cost of utility payments for more than 100 households on the verge of service disruption in the Memphis-area.
This was not the first charitable act by Grizzlies big man, Zach Randolph, either. In 2012 he reportedly dished out $10,000 to save a local pit bull who got stuck 15 feet deep into a pipe. His money was used for care and hospitalization of the animal.
In addition to his recent contribution, he surprised two of the families who will be directly benefited from his donation. The Grizzlies Twitter page posted the emotional experience.

There are many moments that make professional sports important and worthwhile but these should be the most discussed. These kinds of charitable donations impact so many more people on such a deeper level than getting a basketball through a hoop. Although Grizzlies fans are glad Zach Randolph can do that, 100’s are even more grateful for his contributions off the court.
