The Xavier Musketeers will be without forward Zach Freemantle for the rest of the season due to a foot injury that has kept him out since late January. He will undergo foot surgery on Tuesday to repair the damage to his foot. The team was initially hoping that he could return for the 2023 Big East Tournament, but the surgery will end any hope for him playing this season. Head Coach Sean Miller will go with a more unique lineup without their star starting senior forward to close the season. Freemantle does have a COVID-year of legibility he could use next season if he decides to do that.

This season with the Xavier Musketeers, Zach Freemantle averaged 15.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 58.5 percent and a three-point percentage of 63.6 percent. This is a blow to a team that has serious plans for March Madness. Head Coach Sean Miller is experienced that has handled this injury well thus far for the program. Despite the loss of a key starter, the team has stayed competitive in Big East play since the injury. The 2023 Big East Tournament is this week and Xavier is looking to win it.
