After weeks of teasing her latest release, Yours Truly, Jai has delivered the “Boys Go To Jupiter” with the help of Gretchen.
As the title suggests, the latest single from the Tennessee artist takes on the age-old mantra and puts her own spin on it. The visual begins with a younger version of Yours Truly, Jai writing to her friend about all that has happened since she left. Even at a young age, the multi-talented musician is fed up with the boys in her life.
“I miss you so much. School hasn’t been the same without you. You have missed so much,” she wrote.
“Justin tried to kiss me. Please come back before,” she continues before her mother calls her off.
From there, the visual transitions to the present day with a bit of a twist. Highlighted by 1970s feel, Yours Truly, Jai finds herself getting ready to spend a day with her girls as all the guys in her life try to take her out. However, she’s not interested in their grand gestures as she feels they’re doing it more than themselves than they are actually trying to grab her attention.
The mood of the song partially resembles the mood of Summer Walker’s “Playing Games.” The Atlanta native sings, “Did I ever ask you to take me to go shopping in Paris, go sailing overseas or drape me in Gucci? No. All I ever asked you to do was pick up the phone when you are alone.” “Boys Go To Jupiter” takes the message and goes one step further. Yours Truly, Jai isn’t really looking for anyone as he glides over the smooth production. Instead, she’s single, having fun with her friends and living her life to the fullest.
“I know you may have doubts in your mind, but this loving is hard to find. I’m not yours and your not mine,” she sings.
“But still, you feel too inclined to go beyond the stars for me, go grab Mars for me and go real far for me. But I never asked you to do all of the things you do. All of it was for you.”
“Boys Go To Jupiter” is a strong follow-up to “Take It There.” Check out the latest track from the rising star as she makes her way to the top.
