Rapper Young Thug lands his first No. 1 album with his latest release So Much Fun.
With large amounts of streaming numbers, Billboard confirms Young Thug reached the top spot on their Billboard 200 chart. So Much Fun earned 131,000 equivalent album units the week ending Aug. 22 with only 5000 in album sales. The 125,000 SEA total translates to 167.9 million on-demand audio streams for the album’s first week.
This makes So Much Fun the second-largest week for a hip-hop release in 2019, behind Juice WRLD’s Death Race For Love. While this is Young Thug’s first No. 1 album, the Atlanta rapper is no stranger to the charts. So Much Fun is Thugger’s eighth consecutive top 40-charting album and fifth to reach the top 10. His project Super Slimey with Future earned the No. 2 spot in 2017, Beautiful Thugger Girls reached No. 8 in 2017, Jeffrey reached No. 8 in 2016 and Slime Season reached No. 7 that same year.
Behind Young Thug, Lionel Richie comes in at No. 2 with his live album Hello From Las Vegas. The No. 3 spot is held by Quality Control: Control the Streets, Volume 2, the compilation album featuring all of QC’s talent. Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and Ed Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project follow up at No. 4 and 5 respectively.
Lizzo, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Khalid and, Shawn Mendes all make appearances, finishing the chart’s top 10. Young Thug’s joint tour with Machine Gun Kelly kicks off September 30.
