A suspect in the shooting of Memphis rapper Young Dolph has been released.
Prosecutors have asked for a more in-depth investigation into the Tuesday afternoon shooting in Hollywood. Corey McClendon, 43, of Memphis, Tennessee was arrested and originally charged with attempted murder.
On Thursday, McClendon was released by police with no charges. Prosecutors will launch a more thorough investigation into McClendon’s role in the shooting.
McClendon has connections to Memphis rapper Yo Gotti. Yo Gotti (whose real name is Mario Mims) and Young Dolph (whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr.) have been feuding for the past year. The tension between the two rappers is a part of the police’s investigation.
The man arrested for shooting Young Dolph is in Yo Gotti's inner circle.

On Tuesday afternoon, Young Dolph was involved in a fight with three men, including McClendon, outside the Loews Hollywood Hotel. Shots were fired, and Young Dolph ran for safety to a Shoe Palace store. Two of the men ran off, while the third suspect fled in a gold Cadillac Escalade.
It is not clear if McClendon was the shooter or just involved in the fight.
Young Dolph was in Los Angeles to perform Thursday evening at the Marke nightclub in South Los Angeles.
