It was announced that new Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue, only three games into his tenure with the team, would be the head coach for the Eastern Conference in the 2016 NBA All-Star Game. Only three games in and Lue has a 2-1 record but that second victory came with some help from his star, LeBron James.
Earlier in the day, before the Cavs hosted the Phoenix Suns, LeBron denied any and all allegations that he is a ‘coach killer’ just days after former head coach David Blatt was removed from his duties. LeBron shut down the rumors and he also shut down the Suns at home.
The Cavs ran away with the game in the second half after a shaky start which saw them trailing the lowly Suns by three points after the first quarter and they only led by five at halftime. Then the third quarter came around and LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and company locked in and took over.
LeBron led the way for Cleveland with 21 points on 7-8 shooting with nine assists but his big moments came in the third quarter after he threw down a pair of nasty alley-oop slams, including one off the backboard, off great passes from J.R. Smith.
