Yogi Ferrell has played four games for the Dallas Mavericks, and he’s already an internet star. Averaging 17.8 points per game, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 1.8 steals, on 44% shooting and 52% from 3 has also possibly landed him a long time gig. Per Shams Charania of Yahoo’s “The Vertical,” Ferrell and the Mavericks have agreed on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old guard exploded for 32 points on 9/11 shooting from three-point range last night to lift the Mavericks past the Trailblazers. The Mavericks have had a disappointing season thus far, but their improved play of late has brought them into the depressing 8th seed discussion. Yogi Ferrell has helped by bringing much needed minutes and production with Deron Williams being injured.
Before his stint with the Mavs, he was a member of the Brooklyn Nets who somehow allowed him to leave their organization. Both franchises are currently hurting for talent and a future. The Mavericks were just lucky enough to notice his potential. Look for Yogi to play in crucial minutes in the ever so slow chase for the Western Conference 8th seed. You also may or may not find him at a picnic.
